Trophy win for our Chardonnay!
Wow we have had an exciting week with 2 trophy wins!
Not only did we win the best Chardonnay in the Limestone Coast Wine Show but we also won the best white wine overall! 😆.

LCWS judging panel chair Corey Ryan described it as a beautiful example of modern-style Australian Chardonnay. “It was tight and steely, with lovely intensity of flavour,” he said.
This is really an amazing achievement for a small company like us to have a trophy win at this level. The quality of wine producers in the Limestone Coast is extremely impressive. With a regional show encompassing the wine regions of Coonawarra, Padthaway, Wrattonbully, Mt Benson, Robe and Mt Gambier. Wines presented being produced by heavy hitters with all the names you would be familiar with.
It is so very pleasing to see we are on the right track and producing wines with a calibre that can get a tier one trophy win in such a competitive wine show.
Block 12 Lanacoona Estate, which is where our Chardonnay comes from, is such a consistent block with strong varietal characteristics. As a result we just continue to produce better and better wines year after year as we finesse the oak choice and treatment.
We have been excited about this wine from when we first began tasting the fruit in the vineyard. During the fermentation process we got even more excited. We then had to wait a year to see our François Frères barrels work their magic!
Finally we got bring it to the blending bench and get it ready to bottle.
Of course we then had to wait again for it to settle back into itself and find its groove after the shock of bottling.
Patience is definitely required when producing a fine wine!
Peter Douglas, our winemaker, is doing such a fantastic job of helping us to fulfil the goals we set for our wine style and position. Plus we can be a little demanding as we truly strive to produce the best wines that we can 😉.
We are so pleased to be able to offer this wine to our customers in the USA for purchase very soon!
