Eight at the Gate: It’s All About Family and Wine

Meet James the Wine Guy, aka James Melendez. He loves love wine and business.  Obsessed with the subject, the art, the history, the sciences, organization management, and making things less complex

James has been writing about wine since November 2006 and as a result has over 2,890 wine videos on his YouTube channel, James the Wine Guy. Making him the World’s No. 1 producer of wine videos.

Talking about general wine subject matter and specific educational topics on wine and reviews.

He has been a wine judge and has traveled to many wine countries in the new and old world.

James kindly reviewed the range of our wines available in the USA.

With a wonderful video he talks about Australian Chardonnay and winemaking. Along with Australian wines in the USA and our story.  James gave a very detailed and in depth overview of our Family Selection Chardonnay.

We were very pleased to introduce James to Eight at the Gate and the Wrattonbully Wine Region. The fact that he loved our wines was an added bonus!

What is James the Wine Guy drinking in 2022

Aside from other countries besides the USA, high on James’s list of wines to taste in 2022 is Australian wine.

There were once many wines from Australia widely available in the USA however today there is a very small selection. In his local bottle shop there are no Australian SKU’s at all.  A generation ago there were regular Australian trade/consumer tastings however in this has fallen.

We aim to help change that so James can purchase great Aussie wines in his local bottle shop🍷

He gave our Family Selection 2019 Chardonnay a very cool 93 points.

He also did a fantastic video overview of 3 other wines our 2016 Single Vineyard Cabernet Shiraz, 2016 Family Selection Shiraz and our 2018 Single Vineyard Chardonnay. Which are all available in the US and he awarded them 92pts each.
